FMA Celebrates MFG DAY

The hard work of planning and scheduling is over, now all that’s left is to have a great time getting tomorrow’s manufacturing workforce excited today!

October has become Manufacturing Month in many states and celebrations continue through year-end, but the official date for MFG DAY 2017 is Friday, Oct. 6 with over 2,500 events currently showcased on the calendar. 43 companies that are members of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association (FMA) will open their doors to their community and students. Some FMA member event highlights include:

Storage and Processors in Houston will host 288 students (Grades 8, 11 and 12) with 25 teachers, deans, and administration staff from the Southwest Schools Middle/High School for an industry tour. The Port of Houston staff will also be on-site with an information table and discussion about careers in Maritime Operations.

Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, Wis. is hosting a welding career night with meet-and-greets with welding professionals, welding program information, welding demonstrations, and the chance to win a welding scholarship.

Wilmington Grill in Wilmington, N.C. is hosting an open house with plant tours, grilling/product demonstrations, and fun activities. In addition, Cape Fear Community College will be on hand to discuss their manufacturing programs.

Waukesha Metal Products will once again open its doors to students, educators, elected officials, and community members to provide a firsthand look at the inner workings of local metal manufacturing in honor of manufacturing day. The company will host facility tours and presentations at both locations: Stamping and Tooling in Sussex, Wis., and Fabrication and Assembly in Grafton, Wis. The firm will highlight the importance of manufacturing to the nation’s economy and feature the many highly skilled jobs available in the manufacturing industry. Company representatives will be available to answer questions.
