ROCKFORD, Ill., March 31, 2014 – McAlpin Industries of Rochester, N.Y. was recently named the winner of the 2014 Rusty Demeules Award for Safety Excellence. The award is presented by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), sponsored by CNA Insurance Companies, and created by FMA’s Safety Council to recognize a company with a demonstrated safety culture. It is named in honor of Demeules, a significant volunteer contributor to FMA, who was President of the FMA Safety Committee from its inception in 1989 until 1996.

From humble beginnings almost 50 years ago, McAlpin Industries has grown to become recognized as a world-class provider of sheet metal products, assemblies, and services. They are a family-owned business with family members actively involved in the daily management of the company, able to deliver to customers a level of personalized attention uncommon in the industry.

McAlpin’s significant achievements in the area of safety include being certified into the Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) by OSHA for 2011, 2012, and 2013. They also manage a comprehensive Return to Work Program that was created with input and support from workers’ compensation insurance experts and other safety professionals.

McAlpin will be honored at a dinner ceremony during FMA’s Annual Safety Conference to be held April 23-24 at Jumer’s Casino & Hotel in Rock Island (Quad Cities), Illinois. As the recipient, a representative of McAlpin Industries receives complimentary registration, travel, and hotel accommodations at the conference.

“FMA is pleased to present the Rusty Demeules Safety Award to McAlpin Industries,” said Edward Youdell, president and CEO of FMA. “McAlpin’s lost incidence rates and lost workday rates are phenomenal and are a result of an ongoing commitment and practice of safety. They are truly deserving of this year’s award.”
