Pennsylvania College of Technology Receives 2022 Future of Industry Award

Award recognizes commitment to expanding manufacturing careers throughout the commonwealth

ELGIN, Ill. – Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® (NBT), the Foundation of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, Int’l. (FMA), announced that Pennsylvania College of Technology (PCT) is the recipient of the 2022 Future of Industry Award. The honor, bestowed on an NBT Summer Manufacturing Camp host, was revealed last week during the NBT Awards Gala in Des Plaines, Illinois.

“I am proud to present this year’s award to Pennsylvania College of Technology in recognition of their commitment to expanding manufacturing camps and raising awareness of manufacturing careers throughout the commonwealth,” said Ed Dernulc, NBT Foundation Director.

The announcement comes after the first year of expanded camp programs and access elevated through a new grant program from Pennsylvania’s Manufacturing PA Training-to-Career (MTTC) Program. As part of Governor Tom Wolf’s Manufacturing PA Initiative, the program invests in advancing both the industry and career opportunities throughout the state. This past summer, NBT partnered with PCT and other schools or organizations throughout Pennsylvania to support six Summer Manufacturing Camps and will expand that offering to 12 camps in 2023.

“We are honored to recognize the work of Pennsylvania College of Technology in continuing to introduce future generations to manufacturing careers,” said Ed Youdell, FMA President and CEO. “It is clear to all of us how dedicated they are to offering quality programs and experiences that were expanded by this support from Governor Wolf and MTTC.”

The Future of Industry Award recognizes a school or organization that has created a successful and sustainable summer manufacturing camp program. Recipients demonstrate a commitment to the manufacturing industry by hosting summer camps that introduce young people to the industry and expose them to manufacturing career options.
